Match report: Quarry Rovers 3 – Bure Park 6

Quarry Rovers 3 Bure Park 6 – Sunday 25th September 2016 The weather was typically mid-September as we returned to Margaret Road for the opening game of the season. Kick-off was accompanied by a monsoon drenching, followed alternately by bright sunshine and further deluges. The squad was familiar from last season, added to by new recruits Sultan and Lewis, and the return of Tobi. Sometimes a result belies the actual game, and this was the case here. On the face of it a 3-6 scoreline would indicate a pretty one-sided game, but until the last 15 minutes it was a pretty even game with Quarry dominating possession for long periods and certainly having as many chances as Bure Park; ultimately, ho

Margaret Road Pavilion

Quarry Rovers Football Club is pleased to confirm that the work on the new Margaret Road Pavilion should commence on 3 October 2016, with an expected completion date of Autumn 2017. The start date was confirmed on 23 September and work will now begin to remove the equipment from the storage room into a temporary container that is to be stored onsite. Although there will be no changing facilities during the work, portable toilets will be made available for match days as required by League rules. Matches on Saturdays and Sundays should be unaffected and the club expect training on Wednesday evenings to resume at the park as usual in March/April 2017, following our autumn/winter training period

Aown Dogar Memorial Tournament

On 4th September, Quarry Rovers and Hinksey Park competed in the inaugural Aown Dogar Memorial tournament. The overall winner of three matches would take the trophy. Quarry U12 girls won the first match 5-1. Hinksey Park U13s took the next 3-2. The decider was between the two U16 teams. With the scores level at 1-1 at full time, the match went to penalties which Hinksey Park won 4-3. So the trophy was won by Hinksey Park. Many thanks to Hinksey Park for hosting the event. Quarry will host next year’s event. It was a great afternoon and well supported by both clubs. Aown’s family were very supportive and appreciated the day.

New team: Quarry Under 8

We are one of the newest sides to join the Quarry Rovers family and as we are currently the youngest team at the club we certainly are 'the new kids on the block!'. We had our first training session at the end of March and the team has steadily grown from there. We pride ourselves on having fun above all but also working hard to improve as footballers and as a team. We are all really excited to be joining the Oxford Mail Youth League for the 2016/17 season that commences in September, and putting our skills to the test!
