Match report: Bure Park 3 – Quarry Rovers 2

Bure Park 3 – Quarry Rovers 2 Sunday 8th January 2017 I know this has been a difficult season and we have been on the wrong end of some scorelines which did not tell the story of the match, but I cannot work out how on earth Quarry managed to lose this. After a three week break, Alex had a nearly full squad of 15 players (missing only Adam and Haider) eager to blow off the cobwebs on a mild January afternoon in the shadow of Bicester Village. The first surprise of the game was that Quarry went ahead in the first minute: Azlan thought about a shot but instead fed Faizaan on the right wing; he cut inside, his first shot was blocked, but the rebound came straight back and he made no mistake wit

Match report: Quarry Rovers 1 – Broughton & North Newington 2

Quarry Rovers 1 – Broughton & North Newington 2 Sunday 12th December 2016 Oh, the bitter pill of defeat snatched from the jaws of a draw! The day dawned bright after the persistent rain of yesterday, and the pitch seemed in remarkably good condition, although it looked as though it was going to cut up after a while. Haider was the only absence from the squad which meant Coach Alex a full bench of substitutes for a real six-pointer between the league’s two bottom teams – Broughton had only managed one draw in the league. Fittingly, overall this was a scrappy game with few chances and lots of mistakes from both teams, with neither able to dominate or play fluent football for any length of time
