Quarry Rovers U15 – news update

Firstly, apologies for the lack of news. Please be assured that we have been working hard behind the scenes to try to find a coach to take us through to the end of the season, but as yet we have not been successful. Because of this, we have had to take the decision to withdraw from the league for the rest of the season.

For those of you who want to play league games for the rest of this season, Headington Youth Yellows have places available in their squad and would welcome any Quarry players who wanted to turn out for them. Their coach will be at the training session on Wednesday to introduce himself.

However, this is not the end of Quarry U15, at the moment this is just a temporary measure in response to our current circumstances.

We will carry on looking for a new coach for next season. We are also trying to arrange training at Margaret Road from March, hopefully with Ben Franks, a qualified coach studying for a MSc at Brookes in sport science. He has worked with a number of Quarry teams over recent years. We’ll also try to set up some Saturday morning sessions and possibly some friendly games if suitable opposition is available.

If we can secure a coach for next season, we’ll make sure we have proper training facilities next winter, and apply to re-join the Oxford Mail Youth Football League (but not the A league!). We will keep you updated with progress.
