New Defibrillator Update

Quarry Rovers Football Club has been at the heart of the Headington community for nearly 70 years. The club now consists of a number of male and female teams, coaches and volunteers from varying backgrounds and circumstances. In 2019/2020 we saw the largest team numbers for a number of years, thanks to all the support we have received locally.

As part of this development, we are delighted to announce the addition of a new defibrillator on the Quarry Pavilion in Margaret Road, Headington thanks to funding provided by the Headington Community Association.

The club has long sought the addition of this item for the local community and we are pleased it has been added to the South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) database and the App that locates all of the local defibrillators (https://www.scas.nhs.uk/news/campaigns/savealife/).

We would encourage all the local residents to consider downloading the App that can be used to identify defibrillator locations and gain access when required. We would also suggest you read the summary guidance on how to react to these critical situations and remember the basic rules that can save lives.

As a club, all of our coaches are required to be trained in the usage of the defibrillator, which has been proven to improve the chances of survival for people suffering a cardiac arrest. Members of the club committee have taken on the roles of custodians of the equipment and will look to ensure it is maintained.

We will be looking to liaise with the SCAS to provide more education and training on the usage of the defibrillators to other pavilion groups and users of the facilities in due course.
